Whale Conservation
More than 80% of whale research in the Northeast takes place aboard whale watch boats through photo identification and data collection. We conduct our expeditions in strict conformance with accepted research standards. Each trip is led and narrated by professional whale biologists, with observation data recorded and utilized in cetacean research efforts. We are a member of the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation. All research data is submitted to College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, Maine, curators of the Humpback and Finback catalogs and the New England Right Whale Project in Boston.
The naturalist staff of Granite State Whale Watch is made up of graduate zoologists and biologists who affiliate with the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation and other research organizations. Our naturalists enjoy sharing their enthusiasm about whales and other marine life with our passengers, and are available to answer your questions throughout the trip.
